Day One/Day Two
During the first day of filming our project ‘Refugee’ the weather conditions were not preferable. We made a group decision and concluded that as a consequence of the weather conditions, many students would not be willing to be interviewed, therefore defeating the prospect of concluding filming in these two days as planned. With our, now free, time we found footage of riots by anti-immigrant groups in Germany, as well as a humanitarian appeal from Benedict Cumberbatch. Here we found the music we wanted, What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, and began to edit the clips together.
Day Three
On our third day we made the decision to start filming our interviews. We met two people who had the same, fairly liberal opinions and thought it would be best to film them together. After meeting them in the canteen we decided to film them on a bench outside. Here there was plenty of ambient light, however the wind meant that we struggled to achieve good quality audio, even with a microphone. In hindsight it may have been better to interview them indoors, such as by skills which has plenty of artificial light.
During the evening of day three I took equipment home to interview my Grandma. I knew she had relatively conservative, controversial opinions so I knew that this would offset the other two subject’s interviews. The location in which I filmed had medium to low light, but the video quality was good despite this. However the audio was a problem. Again I was only able to get a handheld audio recorder, therefore it was near impossible to film my Grandma, whilst maintaining a short distance between the subject and the microphone. Therefore the audio that was recorded was quiet and low quality.

Day Four
On the fourth day we filmed a member of our media class. He had similar opinions to my Grandma, and again we had problems with the audio. The audio recorder seemed to not work, therefore the only audio we had was the one recorded by the camera. Therefore the audio was low quality. However our location had plentiful artificial light and the quality of visual recording was good and in focus.
Editing Process
The editing process was much longer and more difficult than anticipated. Each member of our three person group had very different ideas for how the project be edited together. As a result, when each member was rotated around to edit, our project was changed subtly, sometimes drastically, to meet the editor at the time’s needs. We all decided to use Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' as the music in our piece, to create a contrapuntal effect to the violent scenes that were shown at the same time. However we reached a consensus on many issues and all together produced a good quality piece.
